A CLOSER WALK WITH PATSY CLINE Starring Gail Bliss by Beau Higgins (Jan. 25 11:32 AM) - Seven times Gail Bliss and her show about Patsy Cline’s story, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, has sold out the Alhambra. Starting February 8, as a command performance, the show will return for the eighth time -- and the final time for Gail Bliss. Chosen from over 600 hopefuls in 1994 to originate the role of Patsy in the initial touring production of “A Closer Walk,” singer-songwriter Gail Bliss has made a name for herself all over North America for her work in this role.“A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” is estate approved - one of only two select productions to be sanctioned by the Patsy Cline Estate managed by Charlie Dick, Patsy Cline's husband. Dick said of Gail, “she’s the best I’ve ever seen.”

ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATER At The Arsht Center by Beau Higgins (Jan. 25 11:08 AM) - Led by Miami native Robert Battle in his inaugural season as Artistic Director, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, one of the world’s favorite dance companies, returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County from February 23 through 26 as part of a 27-city North American Tour. Following critically-acclaimed sold out performances in New York City, Ailey’s extraordinary dancers will move audiences in two special programs containing a series of premieres and new productions that launch an exciting new era in Ailey history. Ailey’s Miami engagement in the Ziff Ballet Opera House, is part of the Knight Masterworks Season, Sanford and Beatrice Ziff Dance Series.

JOSEPHINE BAKER Celebrated At The World Erotic Art Museum by Beau Higgins (Jan. 25 11:08 AM) - Josephine Baker, the legendary American-born entertainer who danced at the Follies Bergere becoming the “Toast of Paris’ as well as one of the world’s most beloved activists in search of equal nights, will once again be in the spotlight when an extensive exhibit of her films, posters and art, launches the month-long exhibit held annually by owner-curator Naomi Wilzig to honor Black History Month and African Art Wednesday, February 1 at an 8 P.M. reception at The World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM), 1205 Washington Avenue.

DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE Sarah Ruhl Comedy At The Waterfront by Beau Higgins (Jan. 24 1:50 PM) - “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” is by Sarah Ruhl, one of the hottest young playwrights on today’s American theater scene. She was the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Award, as well as a Pulitzer Prize finalist. “Cell Phone” was a hit Off-Broadway with Mary Louise Parker (“Weeds”) and was one of the top five most produced plays in 2011 in regional theaters across the country. The Waterfront now brings this wonderfully vibrant piece to the Keys community. The New York Times called it “A beguiling comedy with surprising twists and turns.”
