Winter In Miami - 'Slava's Snowshow' Extends Run

(Photos By Veronique Vial)

SMASH-HIT RUN OF SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW EXTENDED

THROUGH SUNDAY, AUGUST 31

AT ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House

All Tickets $55

Citing one of the most successful runs in the two-year history of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Scott Shiller, Executive Vice President, announced today that SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW, originally scheduled for a limited four-week engagement, has been extended an additional two weeks, through Sunday, August 31, at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House.

Rivaling the Center's sold-out runs of such mighty Broadway musicals as Wicked and the hugely successful Avenue Q, the troupe of internationally acclaimed clowns, headed by Slava, the original Cirque du Soleil clown genius, has connected with South Florida audiences who have, in many cases, returned several times to interact with the comedy and to be dazzled by the many special effects, such as a full-blown blizzard covering the theater in ankle-deep "snow." "SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW is the runaway hit of the season!" Shiller said. "The audiences are wonderful. At every performance, we see couples on dates, groups dressed up for a night out and, of course, parents bringing their kids to the theater for the first time. Everyone is so taken by the production that people are lining up at intermission to buy tickets for their friends and family or to see the show themselves for a second or third time. What better way to celebrate summer in Miami than with two more weeks of snow, snow, snow!"

Equally enthused by the show's success is producer David J.Foster, who stated that the Miami run is the show's largest grossing limited engagement in the United States, far exceeding runs in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. "Slava and the rest of the company have fallen in love with Miami," said Foster.  "We jumped at the opportunity to stay in paradise for another two weeks and continue performing to sold-out houses at the Adrienne Arsht Center."

Tickets for SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW are $55 and are available through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at (305) 949-6722 or online at www.arshtcenter.org.

Produced by David J. Foster and Ross Mollision, SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW is the creation of Russian-born Slava Poulin. Inspired by the most famous mime artists of all time, including Charlie Chaplin, Marcel Marceau and Engibaro, Slava has dedicated his life since the age of 17 to re-claiming and re-establishing the art and craft of the true clown. After founding his own theater company "Litsedei" in 1979, Slava hastaken clowning out of the circus and into the streets, and from there to the major theaters around the world. Since its debut in 1993, the show has traveled to over 25 countries, performing to more than 2.5 million patrons in 80 cities including London, Toronto, Paris, Rome, Lisbon, and Berlin.
