Adding big time heat to an already exciting smash Broadway theatrical season, ROCK OF AGES, a funny, feel good- love story told through the hit songs of such iconic rockers as Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar and Whitesnake, will heighten the joy of the holiday season when Tony award Nominee Constantine Maroulis of "American Idol fame," recreates his original Broadway role as Drew, opening Tuesday, December 28 playing through Sunday, January 9, presented by Florida Theatrical Association at Broward Center for the Performing arts. Coming direct from Broadway, Maroulis, who Rolling Stone declared "a perfect lead," will reprise his acclaimed performance in the First National Tour of the five-time Tony Award® nominated smash-hit musical.
Set in 1987 on Hollywood's Sunset Strip where a small town girl meets a big city dreamer at L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fall in love to the greatest songs of the "80s, including such iconic feel-good, sing-out loud songs as Every Rose Has its Thorn, I Wanna Know What Love Is, Here I Go Again, and Don't Stop Believin'. Other principals joining the party of the classic rock story of the decade include MiG Ayesa as Stacee Jaxx (Broadway: Burn The Floor; International: We Will Rock You; PBS's Handel's Messiah Rocks; CBS-TV's Rockstar INXS), Nick Cordero as Dennis (Off-Broadway: Toxic Avenger), Rebecca Faulkenberry as Sherrie (High School Musical 1 (original cast); High School Musical 2 (original London cast), Patrick Lewallen as Lonny (National Tour: Jesus Christ Superstar), Teresa Stanley as Justice (Broadway: Purlie, Dreamgirls), Casey Tuma as Regina
(Broadway/National Tour: Annie - 20th Anniversary), Bret Tuomi as Hertz (Regional: A Christmas Carol) and Travis Walker as Franz (Jeff Award-Winning production of Chess with Theo Ubique Cabaret). ROCK OF AGES is directed by Tony Award Nominee Kristin Hanggi (Bare, Pussycat Dolls on the Sunset Strip) and choreographed by Kelly Devine (Jersey Boys - Associate Choreographer). The book is by Chris D'Arienzo (writer and director of the film Barry Munday), the original arrangements are by David Gibbs (Counting Crows, Film: That Thing You Do) and the Music Supervision, Arrangements & Orchestrations are by Ethan Popp (Tarzan; Europe: We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia). Scenic design is by Beowulf Boritt (Spelling Bee, LoveMusik), costume design is by Tony Nominee Gregory Gale
