MIAMI SHORES --- Count Carlo Gozzi's beloved comedy for children, The Love of Three Oranges returns to the stage to delight audiences of all ages, January 12 - February 6, 2011 at The PlayGround Theatre, 9806 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami Shores. Artistic Director Stephanie Ansin will again direct her adaptation of The Love of Three Oranges, continuing The PlayGround Theatre's mission to bring the magic and joy of live theater to children of all ages.

The PlayGround Theatre has created a family-friendly adaptation of The Love of Three Oranges, the 18th century Italian comedy that inspired Prokofiev's opera.

Prince Tartaglia has been sick for ten years. He has tried every treatment imaginable, but nothing makes him feel better. Finally, a pair of strange doctors reveals a possible cure: laughter. The king hires a famous comedian to perform at the palace, but as soon as the prince laughs, an evil witch curses him, making him wander the world feverishly searching for three mysterious oranges. A good wizard helps Tartaglia overcome several obstacles on his way to finding the oranges, and the prince returns home with much more than fruit.

The Love of Three Oranges begins at The PlayGround Theatre, 9806 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami Shores on Wednesday, January 12th at 10am. Weekday performances (Tuesday-Friday) are usually at 10am, with weekend performances at 2pm. There will be a special evening performance on Saturday, January 29th at 7pm.
