Mosaic Theatre Goes Over the "Edge" with Acclaimed Season Finale

"Rapp draws a stunning portrait… a dark and poetic coming of age story." Examiner.com

Award-winning Mosaic Theatre continues its tradition of staging thought-provoking dramatic work with its production of "The Edge of Our Bodies" by celebrated author Adam Rapp, the fifth and final show of Mosaic's landmark Eleventh Anniversary Season. Over the past year, Mosaic has staged some of the most memorable moments in theatre, including its sold-out production of Eric Simonson's hit play "Lombardi" and most recently, Mosaic's critically acclaimed World Premiere production of "A Measure of Cruelty" by Joe Calarco. As its season finale, Mosaic brings to the stage "The Edge of Our Bodies," a major hit at the 2011 Humana Festival.

The play tells the story of Bernadette, sixteen, who travels on the train from her New England private school to New York City to give her boyfriend some big news. Achingly articulate about all she can't know or control, this play captures a young woman at the threshold of vulnerability and experience. Guest director Margaret Ledford will stage this production with a talented cast starring Lexi Langs of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and veteran South Florida actor Jim Gibbons.

Mosaic's production of "The Edge of Our Bodies" boasts a creative team that includes resident set designer Douglas Grinn, lighting designer Suzanne M. Jones, sound designer Matt Corey (2011 Carbonell Award Winner), production stage manager Linda Harris and graphics/photography by George Schiavone.

"The Edge of Our Bodies" will run June 7 through July 1, with performances Thursdays at 8 pm, Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 3 pm and 8 pm, and Sunday matinees at 2 pm. All performances are at Mosaic Theatre, located in the American Heritage Center for the Arts at 12200 West Broward Boulevard in Plantation. Ticket prices are $39.50 for adults, $34 for seniors and $15 for students.
