"WEST SIDE STORY" TONY AWARD WINNER KAREN OLIVO, JANUARY 14 AND 15, AND "HAIR" TONY NOMINEE GAVIN CREEL, JANUARY 21 AND 22, IN BACK-TO-BACK APPEARANCES STEAMING UP PRELUDE BY BARTON G PRESENTS PERFORMANCE SERIES AT ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Close on the heels of Broadway and TV's Cheyenne Jackson's sensational Miami debut, KAREN OLIVO, Tony Award winner for her role as Anita in "West Side Story" and also scored raves as Vanessa in the original cast of Best Show Tony winner,"In The Heights," is next in line to wow local audiences when she appears in concert at Barton G's newly inaugurated Miami dinner and show hot spot, Prelude By Barton G Presents, Friday and Saturday, January 14 and 15 presented by Barton G and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

Offering additional heat to the series, GAVIN CREEL, 2-time Tony Award nominee for performances in "Hair" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie," will appear the following week, Friday and Saturday, January 21 and 22, continuing to flesh out the vision of restaurateur/hotelier Barton G. Weiss to provide for South Florida audiences the brand of brilliant talents that play to standing room only in such metropolitan cities as New York, York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Scoring rave reviews and the Tony Award for "Best Performance By A Featured Actress In A Musical" in the acclaimed Broadway revival of "West Side Story," OLIVO went on to earn additional Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Circle Award nominations, also winning the Astaire Award for Best Female Dancer on Broadway. Earlier OLIVO, whose heritage is Dominican, Puerto Rican and Chinese, originated the role of Vanessa in both the off-Broadway and Broadway productions of the Tony Award-winning musical, "In The Heights," joining playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the multi-ethnic cast in "In The Heights Chasing Broadway Dreams," a televised documentary highlighting their road to the New York stage.

A multi-talented actor-singer-songwriter and 2-time Tony Award nominee for Best Actor for both "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "Hair," in addition to his applauded performances in the 2004 Broadway revival in "La Cage Aux Folles," CREEL also appeared in the London's West End productions of "Mary Poppins" and "Hair," and regularly plays to sold-out New York and London audiences at such venues as Union Plaza, Joe's Pub and Pigalle Club.

Due to his national political efforts with his work through the LGBT community, CREEL has won a far-reaching fan base, honored in 2009 by OUT magazine as one of OUT 100. With friends Rory O'Malley and Jenny Kanelos, CREEL founded Broadway Impact, a grass roots organization of the theater community mobilizing in support of marriage equality. In October 2009, he was among the performers on the Capitol lawn at the National Equality March alongside "Milk" screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, singer Lady Gaga, actress Cynthia Nixon and Cleve Jones, organizer of the National Equality March and conceiver of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Presented by Barton G. and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Prelude by Barton G is located in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, 1300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami.
