The Maltz Jupiter Theatre has kicked off its 10th anniversary season celebration by hitting a new record: 7,350 subscribers for its 2012/13 season.

“We are elated to be entering our 10th anniversary season with our highest number of season subscribers yet,” said Andrew Kato, the Theatre’s producing artistic director. “We appreciate the incredible support of the local community here at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.”

The Theatre’s previous record was nearly 7,120 subscribers, and subscription sales for the upcoming 2012/13 season are still going strong. Subscribers save money on single ticket prices, receive one fee-free ticket exchange per show and get advance notice and ability to purchase tickets to special events. Subscription groups of 20 or more receive an additional discount.

“According to the Theatre Communications Group, the average number of subscribers at regional theaters across the country has declined over the last five years,” said Jennifer Sardone-Shiner, the Theatre’s director of marketing. “We are very proud to be an exception and to have reached this milestone in attendance.”

On a national level, statistics indicate that in 2010, regional theaters — which employed 71,400 artists, 32,900 production and technical workers, and 15,500 administrators — directly contributed nearly $1.9 billion to the U.S. economy. This is in addition to indirect fees exchanged over babysitters, restaurant meals and more, as well as theatre employees’ own contribution to the tax base and to their communities.

“The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is one of Jupiter’s treasures,” said Mayor Karen J. Golonka of the Town of Jupiter. “We are so fortunate to have access to award-winning productions right here in our backyard.”

Entering its 10th season, the Theatre is the largest regional theater in Florida and remains dedicated to bringing high-quality productions and educational programs to the community. Since its inception, the Theatre has earned numerous Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s highest honor for artistic excellence, including the prestigious Bill Von Maurer Award for Theatrical Excellence in 2012. The Theatre also launched a $10 million endowment campaign to ensure that it continues in perpetuity.

“Palm Beach County boasts the most highly acclaimed theaters in Florida, and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is our star,” said Rena Blades, CEO of the Palm Beach County Cultural Council. “I am not surprised by their subscription record, since they are one of our most stable cultural organizations with outstanding donor loyalty.”

Now is the time to become a new subscriber to get the best seats available. The multiple Carbonell Award-winning Theatre is offering two convenient subscription plans, the four-play and the five-play, for the Theatre’s 10th Anniversary Season Celebration for 2012/13.
Subscriptions start at $183. Subscribers save 10 percent to 15 percent on single ticket prices. Subscribers also get one fee-free ticket exchange per show, and advance notice and ability to purchase tickets to limited engagements and other special events. Subscription groups of 20 or more receive an additional discount.
