Hear the music of Edith Piaf! Let your heart soar to the tunes of Mamma Mia! Then embrace the magical sound of Canada's first lady of musical theatre, Louise Pitre, who comes to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre stage March 22 in a concert titled From Piaf to Broadway & Back.

Pitre (pronounced "Peet-ruh") shot to fame nearly two decades ago, when she starred in the title role of Piaf.

In 2001, after wowing audiences in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Canadian singer made her Broadway debut when Mamma Mia! opened at New York's Winter Garden Theatre. Pitre received a Tony nomination for her role in the ABBA-inspired musical, and went on to star in the show for two years. In April, after her appearance at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Pitre is scheduled to appear as Ulrika in the musical Kristina by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus at London's Royal Albert Hall.

In addition to dazzling audiences onstage, Pitre has released three solo CDs: Shattered, All of My Life Has Led To This and Songs My Mother Taught Me. She is heard as Fantine in the Paris cast recording of Les Misérables and as Ulrika in the Kristina cast recording, scheduled for release during the performances in London. She also is collaborating with her husband, actor Joe Matheson, and Diane Leah on a new musical.

Pitre's concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 22. Tickets: $45. Phone: (561) 575-2223 or (800) 445-1666. On the Web: www.jupitertheatre.org.
