Lin-Manuel Miranda Visits Closing Performance of IN THE HEIGHTS at Actors' Playhouse in Miami Tonight

Lin-Manuel Miranda, actor and Tony Award-winning creator of In The Heights, will be in the audience to cheer on the cast of his Tony-winning Best Musical during the production's closing performance at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre tonight, April 7, 2013. Miranda will also be the guest of honor at the company's 25th Anniversary Gala Bash that same evening at the Intercontinental Hotel Miami.

In The Heights received four 2008 Tony Awards (including Best Orchestrations, Best Choreography and Best Musical), with Miranda receiving a Tony Award for Best Score, as well as a nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Additionally, In The Heights also took home a 2009 Grammy Award for its Original Broadway Cast Album, and was also recognized as a Finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Drama.

Miranda is the recipient of the 2007 ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award. The actor's TV and film credits include The Electric Company, Sesame Street, The Sopranos, House, Modern Family, The Sex and the City Movie and The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

Playing through tonight, April 7 at the Miracle Theatre, Actors' Playhouse's critically acclaimed production of In The Heights marked the first time ever that members of the original Broadway and National tour casts joined together with Miami's finest talent to bring this regional production to South Florida audiences. Actors' Playhouse is the nonprofit resident theatre company and managing agent of the historic Miracle Theatre on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Actors' Playhouse, which has brought home 75 regional Carbonell Awards for artistic excellence, is a Florida Presenting Cultural Organization and one of 22 major cultural institutions in Miami-Dade County.
