The Night of Heroes:  Broadway's Finest Talent Combines with Boca Raton's Finest Restaurants.

Tough economic times call for special people.  So special, Caldwell calls them HEROES!  That is who has stepped forward for The NEW Caldwell Theatre Company of Boca Raton, for their HEROES Extravaganza Benefit, Friday February 26th, hosted by the Board of Trustees of Caldwell and their newly appointed Chairperson Sam S. Caliendo.   Mr. Caliendo is more than capably supported by Vice-Chairperson Marta Batmasian and the committee chairs, Hien Miller, Elizabeth Hevert, and Christine Lillis.

Beginning with a double headlining bill of Broadway stars Gary Beach (Producers-Tony Award, La Cage Aux Folles-Tony Nomination) and Billy Porter (Miss Saigon, Grease, Smokey Joes Café), and rounded out with Holly Shunkey (Vices: A Love Story), Casey Lee Ross (Step Up) Leajato Robinson (Shinbone Alley, Fire Throws, Vices: A Love Story) and South Florida's own multiple Carbonell nominated star, Margery Lowe (Stratford Festival, Agnes of God, Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf, No Exit).

"That this amazing group of talented performers is willing to donate their time to this night is a testament to the commitment that artists have to keeping theater alive and flourishing," said Clive Cholerton, Artistic Director of, The NEW Caldwell Theatre Company.  "Quite frankly I would have been thrilled to have landed just one of them, but to get them all guarantees a performance not to be missed."

Not to be outdone by the performances onstage is the equally impressive array of Boca Raton's finest restaurants who have equally donated their culinary delights for the evening. (La Speranza, Table 42, Caruso, Saba, La Stella, Le Rivage, and many others)  "Boca has, for a very long time, been known for its world-class restaurants and to provide a sampling of each for this event really demonstrates how intrinsically intertwined Boca's arts scene is meshed with its nightlife," commented Vice-Chairperson Batmasian.  "Both are the fabric of our community and both need to be promoted and nurtured."

Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from Chairperson Caliendo who opined, "the real Heroes of the night are the members of community who continue to support us.  They are the ones propelling Caldwell forward; allowing us to produce modern, sophisticated theater in South Florida."  Caliendo could barely contain his excitement of taking over as Chairperson of, The NEW Caldwell Theatre.  "We have so many ideas, from modernizing the theater facility, to greatly expanding our patron base, and finally to broadening our programming choices-which will include bringing in top recording and music acts, special appearances by top comedians-all of which are designed to attract a younger demographic insuring Caldwell will remain financially stable and relevant for generations to come."

"As anyone, who has been involved in putting together an event such as this knows," continued Cholerton, "they do not happen without an unbelievable amount of hard work from the people in the background.  The team that Sam has put together has been unbelievable.  Clearly they all have been energized by his vision, and each of them, Hien, Chris, and Elizabeth has overwhelmingly earned the title of Hero."
