Caldwell Theatre Company To Produce "Into The Woods"

in Broadway Concert Series

The Caldwell Theatre Company has announced the latest installment of their Broadway Concert Series by producing the Stephen Sondheim, James Lapine classic "Into The Woods," after Caldwell's acclaimed concert of "Sunday in the Park With George" by the same writing team.

"I do believe that "Into The Woods," is a more accessible piece without losing any of the sophistication we come to expect of a Sondheim musical," said Clive Cholerton, Artistic Director of Caldwell Theatre and director of the concert series. "Its themes of: responsibilities of parenting, careful what one wishes for, and responsibilities to our community, are intrinsic to our existence."

The cast of "Into The Woods" will feature an All-Star lineup of South Florida's talent headlined by Wayne LeGette, whose dominant performance of George Seurat in "Sunday in the Park..." will be remembered for years, inhabiting the role of The Baker. The roles of Cinderella and her Prince will be handled by multiple Carbonnel nominated and winning actors, Margery Lowe and Jim Ballard respectively. The pivotal role of the Witch goes to Laura Hodos the hardest working actress in Florida, with Beth Dimon taking on Jack's Mother.

As a special treat, Michael McKeever has agreed to illustrate a collection of renderings that will serve as the slide projections, (executed by Sean Lawson) throughout the performance to establish locales. "After seeing what Clive and Sean had done with "Sunday in the Park" I was thrilled to be asked to provide the backdrop." said McKeever. "I have always been a fan of the Grimm artwork, and to have the chance to add my perspective to it, is a unique opportunity." Prints of McKeever's artwork will be on sale in the lobby during the limited run of the show.

"I can hardly wait to get started," gushed Cholerton. "We felt that we were on to a good idea when we initially conceived of the Broadway Concert Series, but to have had the response we received, defied all boundaries. We're certain we can make "Into the Woods" even better and a more rich theatrical experience for our audience."
